Foster Program

Exciting news from the Timmins & District Humane Society
We’ve officially launched our foster care program!

Instead of waiting for their second chance behind shelter walls, our beloved animals now have the opportunity to experience the warmth, comfort, and love of a real home while they await adoption. That’s where you come in. We’re looking for kind, compassionate members of our community to open their hearts and homes to pets in need—even if it’s just for a little while.

Fostering is incredibly rewarding and can be tailored to suit your lifestyle. Whether you’re home full-time or just have a little extra love to give, there’s a foster opportunity that’s right for you.

Here's how you can help

Grey Cat

1

Short-Term Fostering

Perfect for people who can commit for a week or two. These pets may just need a break from the shelter, recovery time after surgery, or a soft place to land before their adoption.

2

Long-Term Fostering

Some animals need a little more time to find their forever homes. This could be senior pets, special medical cases, or those who simply don’t thrive in the shelter environment. If you're in it for the long haul, these animals will love you for it.

3

Kitten & Puppy Fostering

Help us raise the tiniest, most vulnerable lives! From bottle babies needing round-the-clock care, to litters of weaned kittens and pups learning the ropes, your home could be their first safe haven.

4

Emergency or Weekend Fostering

Great for those with limited availability. Sometimes we just need a place for an animal to stay for a few nights or over a weekend. Every night in a home makes a difference.

We’ll provide all the supplies you need—food, litter, medical care—you provide the love and care.

There’s a short application process to help us get to know you better and match you with the right animal for your home and experience level.

5

Hospice Care

For those with the biggest hearts, hospice care offers love and comfort to terminally ill or elderly animals in their final chapter. It’s the most bittersweet kind of fostering, but also the most powerful gift you can give.

Ready to be a hero in disguise? Click the link below to get started and join the TDHS foster family. You'll be giving a shelter pet the gift of healing, hope, and a second chance—right from the comfort of your home.

If you're in the Timmins area and have a little extra room in your home and heart, fostering with the Timmins & District Humane Society can truly meaningful way to help your community and its animals. 💙
