The Sweet Sixteen

Today, 16 cats from up north needed a safe place to land. A place to decompress. A place where, one day, they can finally find their forever homes.

So we did what we do. We opened our doors.

These cats - ranging from just 10 months old to 4 years old, including at least one pregnant mama - arrived scared, unsure and carrying stories we may never fully know.ย

But tonight, they are safe.

Over the coming days and weeks, they will need daily care, vaccines, medication for ear mites, deworming, proper nutrition, and patience. Most of all, they will need time. Time to heal from the hidden scars they carry and time to learn that humans can be kind.

Caring for these 16 cats will cost nearly $3,400 each month and they will likely be with us for quite some time. But this is why we exist. This is who we are here for.

No animal should have to wonder if they are safe.
